We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to join our team—someone who is committed to business growth, values a positive work environment, and is looking for long-term career development.


This role requires strong attention to detail and some experience in construction. It also includes engaging with architectural and construction drawings as part of developing accurate cost estimates. While prior experience in our specific scope of work and both residential and commercial projects is preferred, it is not required. Comprehensive training will be provided on our specific systems, resources, and expectations to ensure success in the role. We are looking for someone who is motivated to learn and committed to developing the skills needed to excel.


This position will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates for projects of various sizes, ensuring cost accuracy with suppliers, building and maintaining strong relationships with General Contractors, homeowners, business owners, suppliers, and subcontractors. This position will require developing an understanding of project flow and management, as well as the ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining cost control and fostering positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. The listed pay range reflects candidates with little to no prior estimating experience. For those with relevant experience, compensation is negotiable and will be discussed accordingly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2+ Years Construction Experience
  • Computer fluency with Microsoft Office, online software, email, and basic troubleshooting
  • Highly motivated, eager to learn, and has a quick learning curve
  • Availability to work in-person Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 (This is not a remote position).

Preferred Skills, Not Required

  • Education in or experience with reading architectural drawings
  • General knowledge of takeoff software

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue commercial projects for bidding through various channels, including those provided by the company.
  • Utilize industry software such as Buildertrend, Procore, Building Connected, and Construct Connect for estimating and project tracking.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring all elements are accounted for.
  • Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and gather essential data for estimates.
  • Analyze architectural drawings, specifications, and related documentation to develop precise estimates for time, cost, materials, and labor.
  • Collaborate with project managers and office staff to gather necessary information for comprehensive and accurate estimates.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
  • Foster relationships with general contractors and owners to enhance the likelihood of winning projects.
  • Obtain precise quotes from suppliers for each estimate to ensure cost accuracy.
  • Manage time effectively to ensure timely submission of estimates to clients.
  • Negotiate contracts with general contractors to secure favorable terms for the company.
  • Enforce company policies throughout the project lifecycle by ensuring adherence to contract requirements and proper documentation with general contractors and owners.
  • Provide on-site coordination with project managers and superintendents as needed during the project lifespan.
  • Remain available for occasional calls from project managers and superintendents regarding on-site issues or questions, coordinating with ownership to resolve any arising challenges.

Skills (These skills are essential for success in this role and must be learned quickly if not already possessed)

  • Proficiency in construction estimating techniques, methodologies, and takeoff software functions.
  • Strong ability to build rapport with clients, negotiate effectively, and secure favorable terms.
  • Understanding of cost control measures and construction management practices and principles.
  • Experience using Buildertrend and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), as well as the ability to adapt to various online software platforms.
  • Familiarity with the company’s scope of work, including framing, drywall, paint, finishes, etc.
  • Understanding of construction materials, their variations, and proper terminology to communicate effectively with suppliers and clients.
  • Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings and plan specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for precise estimations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in difficult conversations regarding contracts, costs, and policies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to conduct basic research and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.

Job Type:  Full Time

Expected Hours:  40 per week

Schedule: 8 hour shift

Pay:  $19-$24 per hour (dependent upon experience and requirements met)

  • Construction: 2 years (preferred)
  • Estimating: 2 years (preferred)
